The article could have been clearer that Raven is NOT intended for any human use or medical procedure and we have not asked the FDA for any such approval.   Raven is a research platform to help drive innovation in the robotic surgery space.

Announcing Applied Dexterity Inc. (ADI)

ADI is a new company spun out of the University of Washington to commercialize the RAVEN surgical robotics research platform, an open-source robot for research in surgical robotics and teleoperation.   

RAVEN is not designed with sufficient safety for human use and must not ever be used for medical treatment of any sort.
